Kamvol to boost export to Europe after retooling
The Bellegprom wool fabrics manufacturer Kamvol plans to considerably boost export to Europe after retooling.

The required investments are estimated to be close to Br100 billion. At present the sanitary status of the manufacturing premises prevents the company from penetrating European markets.

The retooling will increase the output capacity and improve the environmental status. The company plans to get the Ecotex certificate to be able to boost its export to Europe.

At present Kamvol ships its make to Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Finland and other countries. In January-April 2010 the export amounted to $2.3 million, 60% up on the same period of 2009. Russia accounts for over 70% of the export, non-CIS states - about 16%. The export makes up 70-80% of the total sales.

The company plans to use the new equipment to start manufacturing import-substituting polyviscose fabrics for apparel by the end of the year. The company already manufactures the fabrics but the process leaves much to be desired due to the outdated technology. According to the source, Kamvol is Belarus' only manufacturer of such fabrics although the demand for them is high. Such fabrics are also manufactured in China, Turkey, Pakistan and Iran.

In 2010-2013 the company plans to spend over ˆ26 million to get new equipment. In 2007-2009 the company spent around ˆ2 million on upgrading. The output capacity of the new equipment is twice as much as that of the old machine tools.

Kamvol (Minsk Worsted Group of Enterprises) was founded in 1955. Today it offers wool fabrics and union cloths for apparel, special outerwear, wool yarn and semi-wool yarn, polyether yarn and yarn with flax.
